Our History

1988

Christopher Riley starts in the HVAC world at 14 years old, working summers, weekends and vacation time with his uncle Mark, at Great American heating and cooling.

1992

Chris graduates’ high school and goes to work full time for Great American heating and cooling with his Uncle Mark.

1995

Chris enrolls and completes the HVAC course at Polaris career center, Cleveland, Ohio.

1998

Chris accepts a position at Conway heating and cooling. Fairview Park, Ohio.

1999

Chris has excelled at his position and becomes Installation Manager for Conway heating and cooling.

2000

Tim Conway has mentored Chris, preparing him for operations manager teaching Chris the intricacies of system design.

2002

Chris decides to relocate to New Jersey. Hired immediately, Chris works for a local company as a star technician.

2006

Chris started CGY Mechanical inc. Commercial and Industrial HVAC.

2008

Economic downturn forces Chris to close CGY Mechanical. To support his children Chris returns to his previous employer.

2012

Chris Meets Gabe. Hurricane Sandy devastates the Jersey Shore. Chris leaves his employer due to unethical business practices and accepts a service manager position.

2013

The company Chris is working for goes bankrupt. Gabe suggests creating an HVAC company, 1st Choice Air Comfort is born.

2014

1st Choice Air Comfort opens their doors.

2015

Chris teaches night class at Ocean County Vocational.
Gabe enrolls in the HVAC program.

2019

Gabe Graduates with honors from HVAC apprenticeship program.

2024

1st Choice Air Comfort turns 10 years old.
